Kaduna Women Economic Empowerment: Income increase in rural Nigeria

The Kaduna Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Project is embarking on a transformative, three-year journey to empower rural communities in Kaduna, Nigeria, by focusing on agriculture, skill acquisition and healthcare. Supported by Bayer Foundation, this initiative aims to increase the income of 35,000 women farmers and households by 30% through innovative approaches, such as improving farming skills, providing vocational training and increasing healthcare access. By integrating these key areas, the Kaduna WEE Project is creating a sustainable model for economic growth and community health, setting a new standard for empowerment and development in the region, ensuring "Health for All, Hunger for None".

Winners of the Thrombosis Research Award 2025: Dr. Annemieke ter Telgte and Dr. Kami Pekayvaz

The independent expert jury has unanimously decided to award the Bayer Thrombosis Research Award 2025 to the two outstanding researchers, Dr. Annemieke ter Telgte and Dr. Kami Pekayvaz, and to distribute the prize money accordingly. Dr. Annemieke ter Telgte is being honored for her research on small vessel diseases in the brain. Dr. Kami Pekayvaz is recognized for his groundbreaking research in translational thrombosis research.

Partnership with Pula: Insuring 10 Million smallholder farmers across Africa & Asia

Bayer Foundation and the Pula Foundation today announced at World Economic Forum that they are planning to provide insurance coverage for 10 million smallholder farmers by 2030. The collaboration aims to enhance climate resilience among smallholder farmers, protecting them against the growing impacts of droughts and floods, which threaten harvests, livelihoods, and global food security. It will help build private-public collaborations and shape the insurance market for agriculture in Africa and Asia.

Our team is proud to present this year’s white paper, which dives into the evolving landscape of social entrepreneurship across emerging market economies, focusing on the challenges and opportunities faced by women entrepreneurs. Drawing insights from an extensive analysis of over 2,200 applicants for the Bayer Foundation Women Empowerment Award (WEA) 2024, the study uses a combination of structured and narrative-based questions to examine the profiles, barriers, motivations, and support needs of these remarkable women entrepreneurs.
