Using digital technology to serve female farmers in Peru

As the gatekeepers to family nutrition and the guardians of crop diversity, women play a defining yet underappreciated role in Peru’s food system. To solve this issue, Producers Direct, a global smallholder owned not-for profit organization is pioneering Farm Direct, an AgriTech solution serving female smallholders in Peru. 

Impact Analysis: Access to vision services and eyeglasses for remote Ugandan communities

We supported Healthy Entrepreneurs and RestoringVision to collaborate on the Reading Glasses Initiative (RGI) in Uganda. The partnership is made possible through the Million Lives Collective collaboration grant funded by Bayer Foundation. With equitable access to eye screenings and low-cost near vision glasses, 94% of our beneficiaries have reported a significant improvement in their quality of life, resulting in increased confidence, greater independence and better productivity at work.

Challenge Accepted: Increasing incomes by 30% for more than 100,000 African women!

A big congratulations to our winners of the Million Lives Collective challenge: 4Life Solutions x Maendeleo ya Wanawake, and Medic x D-tree International! They will receive USD $100k grant funding for each joint project, technical assistance support and networking opportunities in their mission to increase incomes by 30% for more than 100,000 women in Africa. This opportunity is funded by Bayer Foundation through the Women’s Economic Empowerment collaboration grant.

Social Innovation Days 2024: A global platform to convene, connect and catalyze

The third edition of the Social Innovation Days went global. In 2024, we expanded our portfolio and selected a wide variety of new partners from Latin America and Asia Pacific – next to our still active portfolio in Africa. With a focus on Women Economic Empowerment, the two-day event was attended by 92 women and 52 men from 33 countries.

Impact Analysis: Community Health Entrepreneurs are changing the lives of underserved Ugandan communities

We partnered with Healthy Entrepreneurs in 2022 to fund a sustainable program that amplifies the effectiveness of the Community Health Worker system while increasing the reach to the most isolated communities in Uganda. Today, 96% of our beneficiaries say the quality of their lives has improved since accessing the program’s healthcare support.

The document identifies opportunities for financial and non-financial support that can be deployed by social investors such as philanthropies, impact investors, and socially responsible corporate investors.
