Empowering Women Scientists

Gender Equity

Gender disparities in science, including underrepresentation, unequal pay, and barriers to advancement for women, are well-documented, and addressing this issue is crucial not only ethically but also for fostering innovation. Bayer Foundation is committed to addressing this disparity through various programs to advance innovation in science for the benefit of society.

Falling Walls Foundation - Female Science Talents Program

We are proudly a founding supporter of the Female Science Talent program developed together with the Falling Walls Foundation.

The program empowers early career women in science to advance their careers and enhance representation in the field. It offers a year-long Intensive Track for 20 talented women, providing two annual gatherings and continuous workshops, career talks, peer exchanges, and support to achieve significant career breakthroughs.

The operation of the program and application process is managed by the Falling Walls Foundation independently of Bayer Foundation. For more information please read here.

Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard
Foundation Stipends

The Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard (CNV) Foundation aims to prevent the loss of talented women in science and increase the number of qualified women conducting high-quality research in Germany. It offers fellowships for talented women with children in natural sciences, experimental research, and medicine, providing stipends to alleviate household and childcare responsibilities, enabling them to maintain high research standards.

Each year, we fund two fellowships for doctoral students or postdoctoral researchers working in a German research institute or university.

The application process is managed by the CNV-Foundation independently of Bayer Foundation. For more information please read here

Central African Women in Science Award “Bourse Femmes & Sciences”

Women scientists are vital for Africa's development and gender equality. Central Africa has limited scientific research, with few national and international grants and publications. Since 2014, the Congolese Foundation for Medical Research (FCRM) has run the “Femme & Sciences" program to raise awareness, conduct public campaigns, and offer scholarships to female master's students.

Bayer Foundation supports the sub-regional "Femme & Sciences" fellowships for PhD students and women scientists/mothers in Cameroon, Gabon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and the Central African Republic.

The operation of the program and application process for this award is managed by FCRM independently of Bayer Foundation. For more information please read here.
