Ernst-Ludwig Winnacker Awardee 2024: Prof. Dr. Alena M. Buyx

Buyx, M.A. phil. with the Ernst-Ludwig Winnacker Award 2024.
The award was established in 2021 on the occasion of Ernst-Ludwig Winnacker’s 80th birthday to acknowledge individuals who stand-up for science and the scientific method, and consequently enhance the impact of science for the benefit of society.
Prof. Buyx's work focuses on the ethical implications of medical innovations and health technologies, as well as pressing issues of solidarity and justice within public health and healthcare contexts. Her innovative participatory approaches in biomedicine further exemplify her commitment to integrating ethical considerations into scientific advancements.
Through her role as Professor of Ethics in Medicine and Health Technologies and Director of the Institute for History and Ethics in Medicine at the Technical University of Munich, Prof. Buyx has significantly contributed to the discourse surrounding the intersection of ethics, medicine, and society. Her leadership in various national and international ethics committees underscores her dedication to shaping policy and promoting ethical practices in healthcare.
